Perang Pandan

Perang Pandan or it is locally in Tenganan Pegeringsingan known as “mekare-karean” as a part of the ngusaba ceremony.  It means Pandanous war, this is a ceremonial fight as well. These duel among a group of men each armed with two pieces of thorny pandanous leaves and plated rattan as the armor as part of the rituals along noon while the maidens praying in village’s temple. This festival usually takes place in relation to the celebration of “Sasih Kelima” or the fifth Balinese’s month or usually in the full moon period on the month of June.

Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot means “Land in the Middle of the sea” in Balinese language. Tanah Lot is said to be the work of the 15th century priest Nirartha. The story goes that during his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island’s beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.

Bajra Sandhi Monument

Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Bali or well known as Bajra Sandhi Monument because of its form is looking like Bajra or Genta bell. It’s located in the heart of Denpasar city, Niti Mandala Renon wide square. This monument was built in the year of 1987 and it is officially opened on 14 June 2003 by president of Megawati Sukarno Putri. The Bajra Sandhi Monument is purposed to immortalize the soul and spirit of Balinese People struggle.

Pura Batu Bolong

Pura Batu Bolong is located on the one of “Njung” in Sagara Kidul of Tanah Lot, about 100 meters in the west side of Enjung Galuh Temple, to be exact at Enjung Batu Bolong, “Njung” which is the rock that stick out in to the sea was hollow (bolong). Hollow form of this Njung, like crescent, so that this temple named Batu Bolong Temple.

Bali Arts Festival or its locally well known as Pesta Kesenian Bali (PKB), is the full month of annually cultural event in Bali island in the month of June. In this year 2011 Bali Arts Festival was opened on June 11, 2011 on the street cultural parade which have been attended by some of rich various Indonesian culture including Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Papua and Bali as well. The full month of the art festival and exhibition  from June 11 to July 9, 2011 held in the Art Center Denpasar as usual.

skd picture style for Canon EOS DSLR

I have added another skd picture style pack for Canon EOS Digital SLR camera.  There are several picture styles on the pack, so please download it for free and try them on your Digital Photo Professional (DPP) application. You must have a RAW image file to apply a picture style to your photo whith your DPP application. Alternatively, you can add “skd picture style” on your Canon EOS digital camera to directly captured  an image with   the picture style from your camera.
